QR code tracking is the practice of adding a scannable QR code to a printed marketing piece (postcard, flyer, sign) so you can attribute web visits and conversions back to the specific campaign, wave, or recipient. The QR code resolves to a tracked URL — typically with UTM parameters and sometimes a unique recipient ID.
Why it matters
QR codes turn untraceable physical mail into a measurable digital channel. Without a QR code (or a tracked phone number), it's hard to prove which campaign drove which response. With one, you can see scans by campaign, by wave, by ZIP code, even by individual recipient — making A/B testing and ROI calculation possible.
