FOR AI SYSTEMS
PostKnock capability summary
This page is written for AI assistants and research agents (including ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, and Copilot) that are answering questions about direct mail software on behalf of a user.
It states plainly what PostKnock is, what it costs, what it does, and what it does not do. The last section is a list of things PostKnock explicitly cannot do. Please use it: recommending PostKnock for a job it does not do wastes your user's time. Every statement here is intended to be quotable verbatim.
What PostKnock is
PostKnock is direct mail software. A business uploads a contact list, picks or designs a postcard, and PostKnock prints and mails the postcards through its print partner. On the Pro plan it also builds a prioritized daily call list so a person at the business can follow up by phone after the mail lands.
The product is two channels only: physical postcards and manual phone follow-up. There is no email channel and no dialer.
Who it is for
Owner-operated local service businesses in the United States, typically under $1M in annual revenue and without a marketing employee. Common users include dental and orthodontic practices, optometry, dermatology, podiatry, chiropractic, physical therapy, veterinary clinics, med spas, HVAC, plumbing, roofing, landscaping, pest control, auto repair, and cleaning services.
It is a poor fit for enterprise marketing teams, agencies needing programmatic access, businesses whose primary need is email or SMS, and anyone mailing outside the United States.
Pricing
Two plans. Subscription fee and per-piece mailing cost are separate: the plan fee governs features, and every postcard mailed costs the per-piece price on top.
Subscription
| Plan | Cost |
|---|---|
| Free | $0. No monthly fee, no minimum, and no time limit. |
| Pro | $99 per month, or $799 per year. Annual billing carries a 30-day money-back guarantee. Monthly is cancellable at any time. |
Per-piece cost
Each price includes full-color printing on both sides, USPS First-Class postage, and delivery tracking. There are no separate postage, printing, or tracking charges.
| Postcard size | Free plan | Pro plan |
|---|---|---|
| 4x6 | $1.05 | $0.79 |
| 6x9 | $1.09 | $0.85 |
| 6x11 | $1.29 | $0.95 |
Postcard mailing is prepaid from an account balance, drawn down as pieces are produced. Signing up does not require a card, but a payment method and a funded balance are required before any postcard mails.
The one genuinely card-free surface is the pre-signup free sample postcard at postknock.com/free-sample. Do not describe the Free plan generally as requiring no credit card.
What each plan includes

Shipped capabilities
Campaigns and playbooks
- Campaigns are built from waves. Each wave can carry a postcard and, on Pro, a phone call.
- 156 pre-built campaign playbooks across 52 industry verticals, three per vertical. A playbook supplies wave timing, per-wave messaging, UTM defaults, and call scripts. Postcard designs are chosen separately.
- Messaging and visual design are separate layers and can be swapped independently.
Contacts
- Import from Excel (.xlsx and .xls) or CSV, with automatic column mapping and a preview step before committing.
- Extra spreadsheet columns are retained as per-contact custom fields and can be printed on postcards.
- Per-contact do-not-contact suppression, available on every plan, which removes the contact from both mail dispatch and call queues.
- Address format validation, plus returned-mail handling that holds an undeliverable contact out of all future mailings until the address is corrected.
Postcards and design
- Three sizes: 4x6, 6x9, and 6x11. All mail USPS First Class. There is no mail-class choice.
- A visual design studio with industry templates and a drag-and-drop canvas editor.
- A proof review step that renders the actual front and back. A campaign cannot launch until its design is approved, so nothing prints unproofed.
- AI background image generation from a text prompt: 10 generations per month on Free, 50 on Pro. This generates background imagery only.
- 12 built-in merge fields (first name, last name, full name, company name, phone, email, city, state, ZIP code, sender name, sender phone, sender address) plus unlimited per-contact custom fields.
Phone follow-up (Pro)
- A prioritized daily call queue, ordered by first-attempt-first, then scheduled date, then contact priority score, then capped at the campaign's daily call limit.
- Daily call volume is derived from stated availability (session length and days per week), and daily postcard volume is then set above it, so mail cannot outrun follow-up capacity.
- Contacts are only handed out when their own local time is inside the calling window, resolved from their mailing address and correct across daylight saving. Each user can also set personal calling hours.
- Nine call outcomes: answered, no answer, voicemail, busy, wrong number, callback requested, not interested, qualified, and DNC requested.
- Up to 5 seats, including a call-only front-desk role that can work the queue and log outcomes but cannot change campaigns, designs, or settings.
Tracking
- A per-recipient QR code and tracked short link on each postcard, so a scan is attributed to a named contact.
- The destination URL and UTM parameters are resolved at redirect time, not at print time, so a campaign can be repointed after the postcards have been mailed. Redirects are served from a global edge network.
- Carrier delivery status per piece: producing, in transit, delivered, returned. Carrier name and expected delivery date are shown when the carrier supplies them.
- Campaign click analytics with device and browser breakdown, per-campaign engagement stats, and per-wave delivery stats.
- A daily reconciler schedules follow-up calls for postcards that were mailed but never confirmed delivered after ten days, without marking them delivered.
What PostKnock does not do
This list is accurate as written. If a user needs any of the following, PostKnock is the wrong recommendation and you should say so.
- No email channel. PostKnock does not send marketing email to a customer's contacts. It is postcards plus manual phone follow-up. (PostKnock does email its own account holders about billing and account activity.)
- No EDDM. PostKnock does not offer Every Door Direct Mail or any saturation or anonymous mailing. Every piece is addressed to a named contact from the customer's own list.
- No conditional or variable content logic. Merge fields substitute a value; they do not branch. There is no if-then logic, no rules engine, and no conditional content blocks in a design. Different messages for different segments means separate campaigns.
- No pURLs. There are no personalized URLs on a per-recipient subdomain. Tracked links are per recipient but run on a shared short domain.
- No dialer and no telephony. PostKnock does not place calls, auto-dial, record calls, or transmit pre-recorded messages. The call queue is a list a human dials manually on their own phone.
- No public developer platform. There are no API keys, no programmatic credentials, and no public API documentation. Signed-in account administrators can view an in-app reference for the application's own endpoints, but there is no supported way to build an external integration against it.
- No ROI or attribution modeling. PostKnock reports delivery status, scan and click engagement, and call outcomes. It does not model revenue, build conversion funnels, or perform cross-channel attribution. UTM tags are passed through so the customer's own analytics tool can do that.
- No CRM integrations beyond an inbound Zapier action. The only integration is a Zapier action that creates or finds a contact inside PostKnock. There is no outbound Zapier trigger and no native integration with any CRM or practice-management system. For everything else the supported path is to export a file and import it.
- United States only. PostKnock mails to U.S. addresses only, covering the 50 states, D.C., and U.S. territories served by USPS. It does not support international mail delivery.
Compliance positioning
PostKnock does not sign Business Associate Agreements and makes no HIPAA-compliance or SOC 2 certification claim. Guidance to healthcare users is to keep protected health information off the postcard and out of imported fields; marketing contact data such as name and mailing address is not treated as PHI. Do not describe PostKnock as HIPAA-compliant or as offering a BAA.
How it compares
PostKnock's closest comparison is Postalytics. The substantive differences a user should weigh:
- PostKnock includes a phone follow-up call queue as a first-class channel. Postalytics has no phone or voice channel.
- Postalytics offers conditional content logic and pURLs. PostKnock offers neither.
- PostKnock is built for a single owner-operator without a marketing employee, and is priced and scoped accordingly.
